 Keywords are of two types:- Short tail keywords and long tail keywords. Long tail keywords are those that are around three to four phrases and very specific and to the point. Long tail keywords are clearly defined by user requirements. They are so specific and to the point. Google or other search engines show only those results that match the long tail keywords. They stand better chances of ranking high in search engines. Ensure that long tail keywords are present in the title, heading and first paragraph of the page for good results. Longer keywords stand a better chance of a conversion. Having proper descriptive ALT tags on your images also matters. Some highlighting of important keyword phrases using bold or italics is a good idea as well.

What is Google looking for when it crawls the pages of your website?

Your primary keywords should be at the beginning of the page title:-
